Quiet, proficient, focused and funny! Colin Lee was one of those martial artists who always kept you off guard — being very disciplined on the one hand but witty and humorous on the other.
For example, Mr. King had his class working on kata kiais, enriching each performance with a variety of sounds. He would lay down, close his eyes and tell each student he wanted to "hear" the form. When Colin's turn came, Mr. King was amazed. Such a rich and wide variety of sounds! It was so impressive Mr. King opened his eyes to see what was going on and there was Colin Lee standing directly over him, looking him in the face, vocalizing! Colin wasn't doing his kata at all, just making a great bunch of sounds. Very funny.
