Jason Brown
“JB”

Kiado-Ryu Black Belt #15, 1st Dan
15 December 1990

Polite, respectful and affable was this happy-go-lucky young man. Always a pleasure to have in class, JB pressed ahead toward the goal of Black Belt without hesitation. He never doubted himself, never thought of quitting, never gave up. He just kept going and going and going like the Energizer bunny.

Jason's father was in the boat business. He graciously donated some line for us which we hung from the roof in the Lambert St. studio and used as a climbing rope. In fact, that green and white rope is still with us today. It serves as an escape ladder and is anchored to the studio wall in case of fire. Therefore, Jason's Black Belt and his rope both hang from KIA studio walls! Let's just hope we never have to use the rope as a fire escape.
