Karate expert, Lyoto Machida, knocked out Rashad Evans for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title Saturday night, 23 May, in Las Vegas. The knockout occurred in the second round. The video link is below. Pay particular attention to the hand blitz Machida unleashes at 9:59 (video’s running time) until the knockout at 10:25. It began with a straight left reverse punch followed by a typical KIA hand blitz in which Machida never let up until he knocked out Evans with a punching flurry. Notice how devastating an all out assault can be. Notice, too, that Evans didn’t cover up. He started flailing back as he moved straight back into a “Death Step,” aptly named as you can see why. This is a good film to study. It’s great to see karate making a comeback as the dominant fighting art!
