Chris “Growler” Grau practices a claw strike to “Bob” the dummy in preparation for his 3rd Dan Black Belt exam looming on the horizon. Once Chris achieves this most prestigious level of Kiado-Ryu attainment, he will be the second highest ranked Black Belt in the rich thirty-one year legacy of the Karate Institute of America, tied for that position with Steven “Widi” Ho. Currently, the highest ranked Kiado-Ryu student is Dan “Basai” Asay, a 4th Dan Black Belt. After achieving his 3rd Dan, Growler’s next rank will place him in a tie with Mr. Asay as the #1 student in our system which manifests a total of sixty-three Black Belts, all of whom are listed at www.kiado-ryu.com and www.RichardKing.net. We’ll keep you updated on Growler’s progress, and an invitation will be extended to all Kiado-Ryu students, especially Black Belts, to attend Mr. Grau’s 3rd Dan exam. Keep up the great work, Growler! You definitely are leading by example, an example of dedication, persistence, determination, courage, commitment and devotion. We look forward to seeing you take this next major step, not only in your life, but also in the life of the Karate Institute of America.
