1990 - Black Belt Camaraderie
Photo of the Week – 28 June 2010
It’s been said, “You can never go home again.” Perhaps not, but this photo of thirteen Kiado-Ryu Black Belts is a great treasure. Taken in 1990, it evokes warm and wonderful memories of the Karate Institute of America and the Black Belts of the time. Unfortunately, Eric ‘EV’ Vind and Rod ‘Rock’ Hickman [back row] passed on in the early years of the 21st Century. They were terrific individuals and are dearly missed. At its posting in 2010, not only can it be said that, “You can never go home again,” but you can never be that young again either. Time marches on, but the memories of those magical days remain forever and form a solid foundation for the rich legacy that is the Karate Institute of America.
